Shopping Trips to France

Spring is just around the corner, and France is opening up. I have taken small groups on shopping trips in the Southwest of France for twenty years, and am anxious to get back to showing guest around. Every year brings something new to discover; a great market, a charming village (filled with brocantes) a new chef, new friends. I’m going to tell you about a typical day, perhaps tempt you to join a group this spring, or in the future.

After a night in a centuries old chateau, your day starts with a typical French breakfast; croissants, breads, butter, jam, yogurt, juices and cafe au lait or tea. The morning may take us to a market, where you can shop the stalls, poke into shops, and soak up the feel of village life. I find French villages liveliest on market days. After we have exhausted exploration of the village and the market, it’s time for lunch.

In this part of France, lunch is an important meal. The locals are proud of their cuisine.

After lunch, and perhaps a wander through a garden, charming village, maybe some wine tasting, it’s time to resume the hunt. Nice thing about spring is that the sun stays up quite late, and brocantes, stay open later.

More shortly…openings for trip on May 26, 2022
