Living the Life, er sort of

Getting to spend several months a year hanging out in the French countryside, doing work that I enjoy, buying antiques, fixing up houses, just sounds ideal. There are some down days, or weeks, maybe lots of them. Let me explain.

My husband and I bought another house here awhile ago. I had to have it. I saw it on Pinterest two years before a friend told me about her listing. Did I say, I had to have it? It is beautiful. Everything I go there, I love it more.

But we all have those days. Setting up phone and internet service, you can’t do just one for some reason. It started with, “Do you have a French bank account?” No, after owning here for 18 years, I had to get one. I go down to the bank Monday morning. But of course, it’s Monday, so banks are closed. Alright, back on Tuesday. Only to be told there was an appoint for a WEEK from Wednesday. FYI, that’s when they would have told me I needed a US tax return, and a bill from my home in the States. Non, merci.

So I trotted to the bank across the street. I got an appointment for Wednesday, told what to bring, and was also informed it would be 1.5 hours to do the deed. It was over 2 hours.

Back to the internet. They would send the modem to the closest shop, no house numbers or street names in this village. That shop was 2.5 hours away…and this was a problem they couldn’t fix. NEXT

This company sent me the modem, but wouldn’t confirm an appointment because I don’t have a French landline, or French cell phone. Couldn’t I use a neighbors number? We waited, they never came, modem went back. Today called the third company, four times, but was told to call back, everyone was busy.

I’m still crazy about this house, and maybe just a little mad too!
